Microsoft Corporation, Services IT, Issaquah, Washington
Helped several groups in Microsofts IT Department with OLAP schema design, cube development, data warehousing design,
MDX optimization, and front-end implementation and development. Responsibilities included conducting technical interviews for
OLAP and data warehouse developers and serving as a subject matter expert in business intelligence concepts. Worked
extensively with the IT departments User Interface Platform team in implementing Panorama and ProClarity server based applications.

Consultant/Developer, November 2004 November 2005
(Independent Contract)
Western Wireless Corporation, IT Department, Bellevue, Washington
Designed
and developed a web-based circuit inventory system for the Network Engineering Group
to help them design, order, and track circuits for all cellular network
elements. The application interfaced with two enterprise systems to deliver
both financial information as well as circuit utilization metrics.

Technologies used: SQL Server 2000, ASP.Net, and Office Web Components
Consultant/Lead
Developer, October
2000 November 2004 (Independent Contract Project)
Western Wireless Corporation, Engineering Department, Bellevue, Washington
Proposed,
designed, and developed an enterprise level cellular network reporting system that
tracked the operational performance of the companys cell sites. The web-based
system used several OLAP cubes to deliver hundreds of metrics by time,
location, and technology. The data mart portion of the application contained
six databases ranging in size from 10GB to 300GB. I was responsible for
managing the project and leading four developers for the first two years of the
project. The following two years I was exclusively responsible for the
development of additional components for the application. Leadership/project
management skills included delegating tasks for all team members; meeting with
senior management to present and promote innovative technologies; meeting with
users to define business rules and requirements; and ensuring proper
documentation for all phases of the project.

Technologies used: SQL Server, MS Analysis Services, ASP, MDX, Perl, VB, and
Office Web Components
Web/Database Developer, April 2004 November 2004
(Independent Contract)
Western Wireless Corporation, IT Department, Bellevue, Washington
Developed a
call detail record (CDR) analysis tool used by the Engineering Department to
help them audit invoices received from national telecom carriers. This system
also evaluated call routes to help network planners reduce operating costs.
The data mart stored every call made on the companys network for a three month
period (1.3 terabytes). I created aggregation processes to efficiently manage
this data and developed a web interface that allowed users to query both the
aggregated records in real-time as well as the detailed records via a
background process.

Technologies used: Oracle 9i, ASP.Net, and Office Web Components
Web/Database
Developer, June
2003 February 2004 (Independent Contract - Project)
Western Wireless Corporation, IT Department, Bellevue, Washington
Developed a
web-based OLAP reporting application for the Sales and Revenue Assurance Groups
to track customer retention and churn. This application displayed hundreds of dynamic
reports, charts, and graphs using approximately 15 ASP.Net template pages.
These reports showed customer activations, de-activations, and re-activations
by sales area, time, and sales rep. The system also included trending and
forecasting reports.

Technologies used: ASP.Net, Oracle 8i, SQL Server 2000 Analysis Services,
Office Web Components, and MDX
Consultant/Lead
Developer, May 2002
September 2002 (Independent Contract - Project)
Western Wireless Corporation, IT Department, Bellevue, Washington
Proposed, designed,
and developed a web-based spatial analysis system to help the Technical Support
Group quickly identify locations where customers experience problems with their
wireless service. The system logged trouble tickets; correlated the trouble
tickets with known cell site outages; notified the responsible cell site
technicians of the trouble tickets; and displayed a map showing all trouble
tickets by type and date range along with all cell site outages.

Technologies used: ASP.Net, ASP, MapPoint.Net, MapXtreme, and SQL Server 2000
Senior
Software Engineer,
July 2001 September 2001 (Contract - Siemens Business Services)
Microsoft Corporation, MapPoint 2002 Team, Redmond, Washington
Developed a
web based application that queries meta-data from OLAP cubes; dynamically
generates MDX; returns data from the MDX query; then maps the result set in
MapPoint. The original contract was slated for two months, but I finished the
project in less than two weeks. Due to early completion of the project, I was
asked to develop a VB based add-in (wizard) for MapPoint with the same
functionality mentioned above. The VB add-in was successfully completed and demonstrated
at COMDEX Fall 2001 to show how MapPoint 2002 can integrate with Microsoft Analysis
Services.

Technologies used: MapPoint 2002, SQL Server 200 Analysis Services (OLAP), MDX,
ASP, VB, OLAP, and XML
Web/Database
Developer, June
2000 October 2000 (Independent Contract)
VoiceStream Wireless Corporation, Business Systems, Bellevue, Washington
Developed a
web based subscriber reporting application for the Sales and Marketing
Department that reported customer activations, de-activations, and
re-activations. I also worked on a project to consolidate several legacy
databases that stored sales rep and external dealer information into a single
database. In addition, I created several stored procedures and reports for
ad-hoc analysis by senior management.

Web/Database
Developer, June
1999 June 2000 (Employee/Independent Contract)
Western Wireless Corporation, Engineering Department, Bellevue, Washington
Maintained
a web-based network reporting system and developed an OLAP reporting system to
track cell site capital expenditures, cellular network performance, and the
status of cell site construction projects. Other tasks included creating a
search engine that incorporated SQL Server 7 full text catalog functionality,
developing a knowledge base to solve user problems as well as track application
glitches, and serving as help desk contact to support and troubleshoot system
performance and user-related problems.

Reporting
Analyst, June 1998
- June 1999
Western Wireless Corporation, Accounting, Bellevue, Washington
Designed
and developed several database applications to improve internal reporting
processes and reduce inefficiencies in data gathering. Typical projects
entailed defining user requirements; identifying relevant data; programming and
debugging code; and writing technical documentation to support applications. I
also converted a capital expenditure reporting process (that originally used
130+ Excel spreadsheets) into a single database application. In addition, I
created an account reconciliation program in Access that automatically
reconciled a $30 million inventory account in 15 minutes (this process took 12+
hours with the previous system).

Technologies used: Oracle, Access, and Excel
Financial
Consultant/Analyst,
May 1997 - June 1998
Financial Consulting Solutions Group, Inc., Redmond, Washington
Provided
management consulting services to municipalities and private sector utility
clients. My responsibilities included the design and development of dynamic
spreadsheets to provide clients with the flexibility to perform what if
analysis based on changing market factors. I also created database applications
to aid in the analysis of usage statistics and population growth forecasts. In
addition, I performed a wide range of analyses including physical fixed asset
deterioration based on actuarial survival curves; user-fee studies for
recapturing service costs; the development of defensible utility rate
structures; and long-term financing options for utility systems.
